2024 Advanced Horsemanship Classes
The advanced classes are 10-month courses offered to a limited number of participants.
Students meet once a month January through October for a 1 1/2 -hour class. Classes during the winter months consist of classroom instruction only. We will be offering the classroom instruction on-line! Beginning in May, you will bring a horse.
The primary focus, of the advanced classes, is helping to develop a solid relationship between horse and rider.
As you progress, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of natural horsemanship and develop a true connection to your horse under saddle.
The program will work with you and your horse to get that solid equine partnership everybody dreams of!

Introduction to Advanced Riding

Class participants will have the opportunity to develop a deeper level of two-way communication that can be taken in any direction. Understanding is the foundation of all true horsemanship and any discipline is welcome.
Riders will go home with new insights and helpful exercises to connect with their equine partner in the saddle.
Topics covered include: horse care, stable management, horse psychology, training, and effective riding.
Skills learned include: gaits (walk, trot), stop, backing, flexion, leg positions, zones of the horse, softness (lateral & vertical collection), shoulder control, yielding forequarters, side passing, yielding hindquarters.
All classes are limited to 15 participants.

We will be taking you and your equine partner to the next level!
Horsemanship is true partnership, one which brings meaning to both horse and human and provides tools for continued growth.
This is really the essence of everything equine.
A person could dedicate a lifetime to working at this level and never run out of things to learn.
We will be fine tuning the skills that you learned in first year such as softness (lateral & vertical collection), shoulder control, yielding forequarters, side passing, yielding hindquarters, two tracking, rollbacks, and leads.
Of course, we have many new challenges for you and your horse while putting it all into motion.

Advanced Riding

The Advanced Class is designed to take you and your horse to the next level. This program teaches a level of horsemanship that will take you to new adventures in horsemanship. You will, understand balance and timing. Use collection to achieve balance and timing, and understand stride and how to control it. We will cover: speed transitions, canter departures, correct, simple and flying lead changes, rollbacks and spins, stops, one handed riding and loping a true side-pass/ half pass.
Once you have mastered these concepts there is no stopping you in your horsemanship pursuits.
