Why Liberty

Liberty at Michelle Jerry Heart & Hooves Horsemanship is not about creating a “liberty horse” — it’s about creating a whole horse. We don’t just teach tricks or ask for obedience; we develop a horse that is confident, connected, and willing in every aspect — on the ground, under saddle, on the trail, or in the show pen.

What makes our liberty program different is that we look at the horse as a complete partner—mind, body, and heart. Liberty becomes the proof of the relationship, not the goal. When your horse chooses to stay with you without a halter or rope, it’s because they trust you, understand you, and feel safe in that connection.

Through thoughtful cross-training — liberty, ground control, riding, ranch work, trail, and more—we build horses that can do it all. Every skill works together to create softness, responsiveness, and emotional balance. Liberty isn’t the destination — it’s the reflection of a true partnership where your horse willingly says, “Yes, I’m with you.”

What You Will Experience

Throughout the program, you’ll build on your foundational horsemanship and step into the finer details of advanced horsemanship. We focus on precision without pressure, progress without tension, and confidence for both horse and rider.

You’ll learn to:

  • Use your seat, legs, and hands with intention and clarity

  • Create softness, responsiveness, and lightness in your horse

  • Strengthen your timing, feel, and energy awareness

  • Develop balance, body control, and engagement in your horse

  • Connect groundwork to every movement in the saddle

  • Ride with purpose, confidence, and quiet leadership

This class meets you where you are and helps you move forward with steady, meaningful progress.

Why Advanced Horsemanship

Advanced Horsemanship at Michelle Jerry Heart & Hooves Horsemanship is not about asking for more, faster, or bigger. It’s about riding and working your horse with greater intention. We aren’t chasing perfection or high-pressure performance.

We are cultivating:

• A horse that thinks with you
• A rider who communicates clearly and confidently
• A partnership that feels good on both sides

We see the horse and rider as a complete team — mind, body, and heart working together. When your horse follows your seat, responds to your energy, and carries themselves with balance and softness, it’s not accidental. It comes from trust, understanding, and quiet leadership that is built from the inside out.

This is where groundwork, liberty, ranch work, trail work, and riding all connect into one shared language.
This is where your partnership becomes calm, clear, connected, and powerful — not through force, but through feel.

Ranch Riding
January-October 2026
$575

What You Will Experience

This program is built for riders who are ready to go beyond the basics; those who want to fine-tune the details that matter most in the show pen, gain confidence under pressure, and ride with balance, accuracy, and feel.

Whether you’re preparing for HHRRA shows or looking to elevate your horsemanship to a new level, this class focuses on advancement through refinement — turning good rides into great ones, and great ones into winning performances.

You'll learn to:

  • Master HHRRA Ranch Riding rules, patterns, and scoring systems

  • Learn exactly what judges look for in accuracy, cadence, and presentation

  • Refine transitions, straightness, and body control for higher scores

  • Develop polish in Showmanship, Rail, and Trail performance

  • Learn to apply horsemanship principles directly in the show pen

  • Strengthen balance, timing, and confidence under pressure

  • Build awareness of arena flow, professionalism, and tack presentation

This is where attention to detail meets performance excellence, because the little things aren’t little; they’re everything.

Why Ranch Riding

This class is about more than riding — it’s about advancing. Led by Michelle Jerry, Ken McNabb Master Trainer, you’ll learn how to think like a judge, ride with purpose, and present your horse with confidence and clarity. Each session helps you polish the fine points that elevate your ride — from your horse’s frame and rhythm to your timing, energy, and presence in the show pen. You’ll leave each session not just more prepared — but more connected, confident, and competitive.

What Kids Will Experience

This is a unique 10-month horsemanship journey for kids who want to learn the right way—from the ground up. No horse experience is required. This program combines safety, ground control, confidence-building, leadership, and partnership with horses in a fun, family-style environment.

Kids will learn to

  • Horse safety & understanding horse behavior

  • Parts of the horse & daily care basics

  • Ground control and communication

  • Confidence, leadership, and mindset

  • Partnership and connection with their horse

We will meet the kiddos right where they are and help them grow

Why Little Spurs

H&H Little Spurs isn’t just a horse class — it’s a journey that shapes kids from the inside out. Over 10 months, children don’t just learn how to be around horses — they learn to think, feel, and listen like true horsemen and horsewomen. This isn’t a rushed weekend camp. It’s time, mentorship, and relationship-building. Kids are never expected to be perfect — we meet them exactly where they are, whether they’ve never touched a horse before or already spend time in the saddle. Step-by-step, we build confidence gently and consistently, so they always feel safe, supported, and successful.

At the heart of this program is ground control — the foundation of all good horsemanship. Children learn how to communicate with their horse through body language, timing, leadership, and trust, long before they ever worry about saddles or riding. This creates safer riders and more respectful, connected horses. Along the way, kids also learn responsibility, self-awareness, patience, kindness, and how to handle challenges without fear or frustration.

Children are encouraged to bring their own horse so they can grow alongside their equine partner. Lesson horses are available but very limited and reserved on a first-come, first-served basis to ensure quality care and proper horsemanship.

This program is made for families who want more than a quick horse camp — they want depth. They want a place where their child can grow in confidence, leadership, and connection. A place where progress is celebrated — whether it’s touching a horse for the first time or leading one with quiet confidence. A place where kids are supported, not judged, and surrounded by mentors who believe in them and a community that feels like family.

In H&H Little Spurs level 1, children develop real-life skills — courage, empathy, calm under pressure, problem-solving, and leadership — the kind that stays with them long after they leave the arena.

If you've been waiting for the “right time,” this is it. Horses don’t just teach riding — they teach life. And H&H Little Spurs level 1 gives your child the time, space, and support to grow into a gentle, confident, and thoughtful human being.

H&H Trailblazers Level 2
January-October 2026
with Accredited Trainer,

Emily Miller
$500

What Kids Will Experience

H&H Trailblazers Level 2 is a unique 10-month horsemanship journey. H&H Trailblazers is designed for kids who already have a strong foundation in horsemanship and are ready to continue growing. This class is the next step for students who understand basic horse care and safety, can halter, lead, and walk their horse confidently, and are beginning to work at the trot. In H&H Trailblazers, we build on those basics—expanding confidence, communication, feel, timing, partnership, and riding development in a supportive, patient, and empowering environment. This program helps young riders refine their ground control, improve balance and connection in the saddle, and continue developing leadership, responsibility, independence, and mindful communication with their horse.

Kids will learn to

  • Tools to build on the foundation they already have

  • How to become more independent and confident with their horse

  • Ground control refinement and clearer communication on the ground

  • Balance, timing, and feel at the walk and trot

  • Simple maneuvers and drills that improve control and responsiveness

  • Confidence, leadership, and mindset skills that carry into everyday life

  • Partnership and connection that deepens the relationship with their horse

  • How to remain calm, focused, and consistent in new situations

We will meet the kiddos right where they are and help them grow

Why Trailblazers

H&H Trailblazers is where young riders step into the next chapter of their horsemanship journey. This is where they begin to truly understand what partnership means — not just riding a horse, but communicating with one, listening to one, and learning to show up as a trustworthy leader. Our H&H Trailblazers already have the basics; they know how to be safe, how to care for their horse, how to lead, and how to move with confidence at the walk and trot. Now, we begin to shape feel, timing, awareness, and connection.

At Heart & Hooves, we believe horsemanship is not about pushing harder or doing more — it’s about understanding, softness, and being present with your horse. In H&H Trailblazers, we continue to strengthen ground control as the foundation of everything we do. From there, we help young riders develop balance, quiet leadership, rhythm, communication, and a deeper sense of emotional awareness — both in themselves and in their horse.

We meet every rider right where they are, whether they need reassurance, confidence building, refinement, or new challenges. There is no pressure to look a certain way or perform at a certain level. Progress here is measured in connection, understanding, and personal growth — not in perfection.

Kids are encouraged to bring their own horse so that both horse and human grow together. A limited number of lesson horses may be available, but our priority is helping each child develop their own partnership with clarity, trust, and consistency.

H&H Trailblazers is for families who want something real — a community where kids are supported, encouraged, and believed in. A place where progress is celebrated, questions are welcomed, and horsemanship is honored as something meaningful and lifelong. Here, your child is not just a rider — they are a young horseman or horsewoman in the making, learning courage, empathy, patience, leadership, and confidence — the kind that lasts long after they leave the arena.

If your child is ready for the next step — ready to deepen their relationship with their horse, refine their skills, and grow into a quiet, confident leader — then H&H Trailblazers is exactly where they belong.

Because here at Heart & Hooves, we don’t just teach horses — we grow good people.
