Accredited Trainers
At Michelle Jerry Heart & Hooves Horsemanship, we are proud to have Accredited Trainers across three states who represent the true heart of what we do—the H&H WHY.
Each trainer is grounded in the Heart & Hooves foundation, focusing on feel, communication, consistency, and building meaningful partnerships between horse and rider. They teach with integrity, patience, and purpose, meeting each horse and rider where they are in their journey.
Through our Accredited Trainers, Heart & Hooves Horsemanship offers lessons, training, and clinics throughout Minnesota, Wisconsin, and South Dakota. We are proud to call them our trainers, as they represent the values, passion, and heart behind the Heart & Hooves program.

Nada Carter
Carter Acres Quarter Horses
Nada Carter’s passion for horses runs deep. Raised on a horse and cattle ranch in western North Dakota, riding and working cattle were simply a part of everyday life from a young age. While she rode a wide variety of horses growing up, her focused training journey began several years ago when she was introduced to natural horsemanship—and she quickly became hooked on the clarity, feel, and results it provides.
Nada has continued to invest in her education, riding with Richard Shrake, Clinton Anderson, and Ken McNabb, along with auditing clinics from many other respected horsemen. Most recently, she took on the challenge of becoming a Michelle Jerry Horsemanship Accredited Trainer, further deepening her foundation and commitment to thoughtful, correct horsemanship.
Nada looks forward to each summer where she puts her skills to work at Carter Acres Quarter Horses, alongside her husband Dale and their family. Together, they raise registered working cow horses with a strong focus on versatility. Carter Acres foals approximately 20 mares each year, with foals traveling to North Dakota in August for their annual production sale hosted by Nada’s extended family.
Nada and Dale truly enjoy meeting people, sharing their horses, and visiting with fellow horse enthusiasts.
Visitors are always welcome by appointment.

Nichole Jopke
Trainer at Heart & Hooves Arena
My horsemanship journey has been shaped by a deep respect for the horse and a belief that true progress begins with a solid foundation. Through years of hands-on experience and continued education, I have focused on developing feel, timing, and clear communication—always prioritizing the horse’s mental and physical well-being.
Completing the Michelle Jerry Accreditation Program was a meaningful milestone in that journey. The program strengthened my understanding of groundwork, riding, and problem-solving, while reinforcing the importance of consistency, softness, and accountability in horsemanship. It challenged me to grow not only as a horsewoman, but as a teacher and lifelong student of the horse.
I am passionate about sharing this knowledge with others—helping riders build confidence, understanding, and a respectful partnership with their horses. At the same time, I remain committed to continuing my own education, knowing there is always more to learn. My hope one day is to create an environment rooted in patience, clarity, and strong foundations, where both horses and humans can grow together.

Terri Marken
MIchelle Jerry Heart & Hooves Accredtied Trainer
Terri Marken is a proud mom of four and grandmother to five. Her love for horses began growing up on a farm in Cass Lake, Minnesota, where horses were simply a part of everyday life—jump on and ride. Over time, Terri learned that owning and riding horses is about far more than just being in the saddle.
Sixteen years ago, Terri purchased her first horses for herself and her daughter. As her daughter progressed, they found a seasoned 19-year-old step-up horse who proved to be an incredible teacher. When school and sports took over her daughter’s time, Terri began using that same horse to learn gaming, traveling to local shows and gaining valuable experience along the way. Terri is a firm believer that older horses have some of the greatest lessons to offer.
Terri has been part of the Heart & Hooves family nearly since the beginning. Under the guidance of Michelle Jerry, she discovered a deep passion for liberty work, valuing the connection, communication, and partnership it creates between horse and human. She later took on the challenge of starting an untouched 5-year-old Arabian, an experience she describes as one of the most rewarding journeys of her horsemanship life.
In 2024, Terri added both a yearling and a weanling to her herd through Carter Acres Quarter Horses and continues their training with a focus on foundation and relationship. She graduated from the Michelle Jerry Horsemanship Accreditation Program in March of 2025, gaining confidence, clarity, and a deeper understanding of training horses
and helping others succeed.
From April through July of 2025, Terri participated in a training program with Lucky 7 Horse Rescue, giving a rescue horse a second chance through proper training and care. The experience was so meaningful that she ultimately adopted the horse herself. Terri credits her Heart & Hooves education for giving her the skills and confidence to take on such opportunities.
Terri remains committed to continuing her education, training her own horses, and sharing her knowledge with others in her area—helping riders build stronger connections with their horses and confidence in their journey together.
