H&H Little Spurs Level 1 is a unique 10-month kids’ horsemanship program where young riders learn the right way—from the ground up. No experience needed. Just a love for animals and a safe, supportive place to grow.

H&H Little Spurs Level 1 – Deer River

Welcome to a one-of-a-kind 10-month horsemanship journey built specifically for kids. This program focuses on confidence, leadership, safety, and connection—teaching children how to understand and work with horses in a way that is calm, respectful, and truly effective.

There’s no pressure, no perfection needed. We meet each kid exactly where they are, whether they've never touched a horse or already spend time in the saddle.

What Kids Will Learn

• Horse safety & understanding horse behavior

• How horses think, feel & communicate

• Leadership, timing & clear body language

• Ground control & confidence-building skills

• Parts of the horse & daily care basics

• Responsibility, empathy & calm problem-solving

• True partnership from the ground up

This foundation builds safer riders and more responsive, connected horses.

Class Format

Online Classroom Sessions (Zoom)

Fun, interactive learning covering safety, communication, behavior, and basic horsemanship skills.

Hands-On Arena Classes

In-person sessions at Heart & Hooves Arena where kids apply what they’ve learned through guided exercises, groundwork, and confidence-building activities.

Demo Day Celebration

A positive, encouraging event where kids get to show what they’ve learned.

Friends & family welcome!

Horse & Lesson Horse Options

Children are encouraged to bring their own horse so they can grow together.

A limited number of lesson horses are available at the Deer River location.

Lesson Horse Fee: $15 per class

(Paid upfront for the entire program to reserve — first come, first served.)
