This exclusive 3-day clinic was designed specifically for the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Mounted Patrol, focusing on building solid, reliable, confident horse-and-rider teams prepared for the unique demands of mounted law enforcement. Throughout the clinic, participants work through foundational ground control and purposeful riding exercises tailored to real-world patrol situations.

DAY 1 – Ground Control & Communication

The clinic begins with intensive groundwork to develop:

• Trust, respect, and willingness

• Clear two-way communication

• Reading and influencing body language

• Leading, lunging & purposeful movement

• Hindquarter & forequarter control

• Confidence in high-pressure or crowded environments

These sessions establish calmness, responsiveness, and connection—key components for mounted units working in unpredictable scenarios.

DAYS 2 & 3 – Riding, Precision & Applied Skills

Mounted work builds on the foundation established during groundwork. Riders focus on:

• Obstacle navigation

• Maintaining control in distractions & crowds

• Smooth transitions & balanced movement

• Search & rescue maneuvers

• Riding in unfamiliar or changing environments

• Softness, responsiveness & reliability under pressure

Each exercise supports the Mounted Patrol’s real-world responsibilities, enhancing communication, safety, and effectiveness.
